HOROLOGICAL MACHINE NO 3
Once again we are awed by Maximilian Büsser & Friends. Summed up, this watch has two variations. The red gold Starcruiser (above) and white gold Sidewinder (below) both feature two sapphire cones rising up from the case. Crafted bridges, rapidly oscillating balance wheel, gearing and distinctive battle-axe shaped automatic winding rotor are all open to view. This allows the wearer to fully appreciate the art and craft that makes up HM3 and draws the viewer’s gaze inside the highly complex machine; a machine comprising more than 300 fine-finished, high-precision components. - Coolhunting

Designer Focus - Earnest Sewn
I have to credit a friend of mine, we shall call him Mr. A for now, for this latest find - Earnest Sewn. They quickly became one of r-Lie's top denim brands. With the opening of their first West Coast based store - finding them will become a little easier. You can find out more about the company and check out their new line here.
SmileCups
r-Lie's editors are all amatuer barista's and huge espresso fans - needless to say we think these are "the sh!t." Studio Psycho does it once again. More pictures and studio information here.

Dupli Casa
Seems like r-Lie is quickly turning into an architecture blog. We can't help it - these are just too fresh. We agree with thecoolhunter that "Dupli Casa, a private residence by the Neckar river, near the old town of Marbach in South- Western Germany, is a wonderful example of connection and fluidity. It connects the inside with the outside, up with down, air with ground and — most cleverly — past with present and even future." More images here.

House for Architects and Artists
"The task was to create reasonably-priced residential space with high standards of living comfort for four differently sized parties. In the process, each party was to profit as much as possible on the one hand from the 3,000 m2 south-facing environs, and on the other from the north-facing view of the city." - Arch Daily. More images and the rest of the story here.

Christina Koutsospyrou
r-Lie recently discovered the amazing works of Christina Koutsospyrou. What we find most interesting about Christina's work is her radical use of the conventional black and white color combination. You can check out more of her work here.

Underwater Museum
"Architect Jacques Rougerie -an expert when it comes to space and underwater structures- has designed the soon-to-be first underwater museum. It will be located off the coast of Egypt, near the new Library of Alexandria, where Cleopatra once had a palace on an island in one of the largest human-made bays in the world back in the day, submerged by earthquakes in the 4th century." More can be found here.

The Politics of Fear
Bleeding heart liberal? Crazy redneck conservative? Your political views are the sum of your personal experiences and education right? Think again. A recently published paper in Science magazine suggests a biological basis for politically charged beliefs, from support for foreign aid and pacifism to capital punishment and the Iraq War. Read more here. -Philip Haycock
Heiko Mueller

A Tribute to Paul Newman
Truly one of the greatest. Paul Newman embodied an irrefutable style, charm, and charisma which made him second to none. You can find a sartorial tribute to the legend here.
Venus Chair - Tokujin Yoshioka
"Tokujin Yoshioka's chair made from growing natural crystals will headline the exhibition Second Nature opening on the 17th in Tokyo this month. The Venus chair is an evolution of earlier work such as Honey-pop (2001) which used a honeycombed paper structure to obtain it's strength and the Pane chair (2006) made of a translucent spongy material called polyester elastomer. The Venus chair is grown in a tank, the production process half controlled by Yoshioka and half left up to nature." - Core77

Eugenio Recuenco
What amazes us more than his pictures is Eugenio's amazing ability to create out of this world compositions. After browsing through his portfolio it is no surprise that he is one of the most sought after photographers in the world. Check out more of his works here.

Aminaka Wilmont - Sole-less Shoe
Aminaka Wilmont introduced a new shoe during London Fashion Week that's sole-less. We're not quite sure what to think - but we do like that it is an unconventional design which is in itself an accomplishment. Check it out here.
