There will be a slowdown in the number of posts since I'm going on vacation. Hopefully I'll be able to report some of the pieces from abroad so check back once in a while. All systems will be up and running again in 3-4 weeks. Adios Amigos!

Villa.Under.Extension
This project in Bled, Slovenia is a must see. Created by architectural group OFIS it's a rebuild of an old villa. We think that the amalgamation of old and new with the glass and futuristic lines combined with the classic and warm wood medium makes this home really stand out. The rest of the images can be found here.

Lee J Rowland - The Ripple Table Series
Lee Rowland once again combines engineering and art in his latest series. Intense CNC machining and milling processes as well as space age materials have allowed this engineer turned artist to seemingly freeze time. Absolutely brilliant. More pictures and artist information available here.

Seeing Sounds - More than just a N.E.R.D Album
The ability for ones senses to intermingle is more fact than fiction. The condition is known as Synaesthesia and has in fact been reported in several artists over time. Perhaps Pharrell really can see sounds...Read more about it here and click on the image above to watch a quick video that tests you for the condition.
Antonin Kratochvil's Moscow Nights
We came across Kratochvil's new project and thought we'd share. "Moscow Nights is a riveting photo essay on Moscow's nightlife by world-renowned photographer Antonin Kratochvil. It is a voyeuristic tour through the decadence and hedonism of the new "Golden Youth" as they enjoy their spoils. Kratochvil captures everything from go-go dancers-both performing for admirers and catching a cigarette behind the scenes-to club-goers cavorting aboard a yacht that once was Stalin's and writhing on the dance floor. Through the nighttime journey, Kratochvil also exposes the reader to a much deeper social commentary on the new generation and its heritage." The book quantity's are limited so pre-order if you'd like a copy. More about the photographer can be found here.

Earth, Wind, Fire....no, not Captain Planet
Designer Anne Colombo's sculptures gather their inspiration from the three earthly forces. They won us over instantly. You can find more info and pictures here.
Super Sunglasses
Italian company Super launched a series of retro acid color shades earlier this year. "The handmade acetate frames allow for intriguing design (exposing layers of color when the materials are cut down, like in the ones pictured), and all the glasses have Zeiss lenses." Their collection consists of slightly more subtle pieces as well but the ones pictured above are a favorite of ours.
Hyposurface
Absolutely mind blowing. "HypoSurface is the World's first display system where the screen surface physically moves! Information and form are linked to give a radical new media technology: an info-form device. The surface behaves like a precisely controlled liquid: waves, patterns, logos, even text emerge and fade continually within its dynamic surface. " The video speaks for itself - check them out here

The AquaDom
The AquaDom fish tank in Berlin
"While the Georgia Aquarium is impressive, it has nothing on the world’s largest fish tank. The AquaDom, located in the lobby of the 5 star Radisson SAS Hotel in Berlin, holds 2.500 tropical fish enclosed in an 82 foot high Plexiglass cylinder. The fish tank can be viewed from every room on every floor of the swanky hotel. This fish tank gives new meaning to the term “sleep with the fishes.” Sandrarose.com

Designer Safe
The crew at Style.com recently posted an announcement that Smythson would be releasing a Mondrian inspired safe in October. "..the limited-edition series features writing folders, travel wallets, passport covers, and the like, all rendered in colorful geometric patterns. The look is also evident in their Accessory Cabinet (pictured), which comes equipped with a perpetual motion watch-rocker (one way to keep it wound) and also, curiously, doubles as a safe. It's intriguing enough, even if we're doubtful the De Stijl movement had this sort of application in mind."

Louis Vuitton Flagship Store in Japan
UNStudio inspired the design for the new Louis V store in Japan. As Dezeen describes, "The design for the 10 storey (54 meter tall) flagship Louis Vuitton store in Japan aims to establish an architectural equivalent of the identity of Louis Vuitton in which classical and modern qualities are blended, reinforcing each other. The design inspires the visitor with a feeling of being in the House of Louis Vuitton by celebrating the qualities that make up the essence of the company, its products, its history and its future." One of One Art
Every once in a while something truly unique occurs in art. Have you ever wanted artwork that you knew was absolutely customized for you? No replica's, no prints, and no more ikea art (we promise that the editor has only 2 ikea paintings in his house....). DNA 11 has come up with a brilliant way to achieve this. As the name and the image suggest - DNA 11 compiles a piece of artwork based on your own DNA. Not only is the idea unique but the final product is extremely captivating. To check out more head over to their website at DNA 11.
Designer Coke Bottles
Usually when you think of the fashion world and coke - this isn't exactly what comes to mind. Coca Cola has teamed up with designer Roberto Cavalli to produce a set of limited edition bottles which will be distributed in Italy between September and December. The collection is limited to 300,000 bottles. While we aren't huge fans of the designs themselves - it is nice to see an unconventional approach being taken in product development.
